The Serious Eats Team has rounded up the tastiest bites from last week's posts so you don't miss anything delicious! This Week on Serious Eats According to our handy site-metering utility, the top 10 most delicious items on Serious Eats last week were ... 1. We Eat Every Dipping Sauce at Pommes Frites "If you've ever been (or known) an NYU student, or if you've ever wandered around the East Village at midnight looking for a carb fix, you'll know Pommes Frites. The hole-in-the-wall on Second Avenue sells thick-cut Belgian fries served in paper cones, golden and crunchy and always hot. But which of their dozens of dipping sauces should you order?" 2. Momofuku's Ginger-Scallion Noodles With Tofu "This dish stays away from obvious Asian ingredients like sesame oil or oyster sauce which tend to take over the flavor of a dish, while introducing unexpected ones like sherry vinegar. The result is clean, balanced and light, yet flavorful enough to carry a bowl of noodles." 3. The Pizza Lab: Awesome Pizza Without An Oven (aka Skillet Pizza) That's right: this week we're making a 100% bake-free skillet pizza--crisp, puffy, charred, tender-chewy pizza--and yep, it's good. 4. 6 Fried Foods at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo "From fried red velvet cake to boudin balls, the food at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo—which ends on Sunday, March 18—is made possible by the magic of the deep-fryer. Both the deep-fried cookie dough and chocolate-dipped cookie dough rolled in coconut (we of course had to try both) were like the world's greatest candy bars." 5. The Search for America's Best Tacos: West Coast Contenders "West coast tacos show a staggering amount of variety. Though corn tortillas reign supreme, fillings range from traditional grilled and braised meats, to the deep-fried fish tacos of the Southern California coast, to the steamed lamb found in border towns just north of Mexico." 6. Snapshots from India: The Best Vegetarian Street Food "The vegetarian fare we ate was so much better, so much fresher, and so much more interesting than the nonvegetarian offerings that, after a while, we hardly even gave the meat a second glance. The best vegetarian street food—and to be honest, it was all pretty good—hits multiple pleasure centers: spicy, crispy, gooey, sweet, umami-licious." 7. Grilled Chorizo Stuffed Poblano Peppers These stuffed poblanos really build upon the awesomeness of the chorizo. The filling was a complex mixture that spread across a gamut of flavors and textures: fresh, tangy, creamy, spicy, cheesy, meaty, and more. The poblanos were instrumental in grounding all of these flavors, providing a base for the stuffing both structurally and flavor-wise. 8. From Behind the Bar: On Gender "The fact was, at Happy Hour, when the bar was full of suits, men would flock to the side of the bar where my partner was making drinks. She was awesome, gregarious, beautiful, and more than able to handle herself in any situation, but we both knew that we made more money when she was working up front. So that is where she worked." 9. Upgrade Your Fried Chicken: 7 No-Cook Dipping Sauces in Under 7 Minutes We've come up with seven recipes for seven different dipping sauces, each one with seven ingredients or fewer, designed to come together in seven minutes or less with absolutely no cooking 10. 12 Corned Beef Sandwiches You Should Eat for St. Patrick's Day in Chicago You can't go wrong with a mess of the cured meat between two slices of rye bread.
